Vice President, Marketing

As a member of the Ruby Ribbon Executive Leadership Team, the Vice President of Marketing will report to the EVP of Product and Marketing, and is critical to driving nationwide brand recognition both as a stylist acquisition strategy and product sales strategy.

The successful candidate will manage our brand presence, increase unaided brand awareness leveraging digital and traditional media channels.

The executive will develop and manage the Marketing team, while collaborating deeply with the Sales, Technology and Product teams. The executive will deeply collaborate cross functionally with Finance, Operations and Sales to meet immediate and long-term business objectives.

Ruby Ribbon is experiencing acclerated growth, and the successful candidate will drive results in a highly dynamic environment. The key metrics owned by this position include: Increased brand awareness, resulting in more customer and stylist acquistition including digital KPI for all media, acquistion, retention and attendance at national events.

We are looking for a results-oriented, data driven, leader who has the hands-on, do-it-all urgency of an entrepreneur along with the professional experience and proven track record of growing a consumer brand in the distributed sales force. Direct sales experience is a plus though other experience involving selling through a nationwide channel will be considered a strong analolgy. Location

Domain expertize: Proven track record

  • Creating and driving a marketing plan and vision

Vice President, Sales

Location

The ideal candidate will reside in/relocate to the San Francisco Bay area, and operate from the Ruby Ribbon corporate offices in Burlingame, CA. Substantial travel is involved.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Align sales objectives with the company’s business strategy through active participation in corporate strategic planning, sales strategy development, forecasting, sales resource planning, and budgeting.
  • Develop annual and quarterly sales and Stylist acquisition goals and drive the field execution to exceed targets. Creates quarterly bonus targets and plans.
  • Manages the Sales department, inclusive of in-field Directors of Sales; and the Training and Curriculum and Operations functions, and collaborate on management of the events and customer service functions.
  • Able to design promotions and programs and assess their effectiveness. Having designed the promotions, knows how to effectively roll them out to the field to crate action.
  • Drive success of Events (the National Convetion, Director’s Summit, quarterly in-field travel blitzes). Determines strategy to use the investment in these events to crate quarterly goals.
  • Lead, train, mentor, and coach Field Directors and Leaders to accomplish personal and team objectives, which improve skillset and achieve career potential.
  • Foster a positive, inspirational, and motivational culture by a deep understanding of using incentives to motivate behaviors that create desired results.
  • Deliver effective public speaking messages to small and large groups of Stylists, the public, peers, and the board of directors.
  • Proactively review and analyze sales and Stylist acquisition performance against company programs, forecasts, and plans to determine effectiveness and adjust as necessary to achieve goals.
  • Identify rising stars by maintaining strong relationships within the top tier of field leadership ranks, ensuring we motivate and retain our up and coming leaders.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Business or Marketing required, MBA preferred.
  • 10 to 15 years experience at the Executive level in a sales position involving a field sales team, with at least two to three years with a best-in-class direct sales company. Can articulate their role in driving the success of that company. Has created double digit growth in the field in the past, and comes to the table with ideas and strategies.

Director – Digital Tools and Product Management

This position will drive the vision for all digital tools that enhance the success of our sales representatives – The Independent Stylists – as they seek to acquire and serve customers. This includes creation of the roadmap for the company’s website (and shopping cart); evaluation of outside tools, particularly sales tools, and vendors; and the creation of applications of social media that enhance the company’s mission, brand, and product opportunities. The successful candidate will be an “internal change agent” visualizing how social and digital methods can recreate the most essential business-driving actions happening face to face.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Work with the management team and throughout the organization to gather, develop, and filter strategic ideas as well as tactical plans that will delight our stylists and customers.
  • Define the product strategy and program management plan for Ruby Ribbon which includes evaluation of social media platforms and their ability to drive activity with our stylist base. Be the catalyst for the translation of analog experiences into digital experiences.
  • Develop an understanding of target markets and evolving trends within direct sales to drive our website and technical products. This includes coordination and execution of market research programs with Marketing and Sales Operations, along with developing business cases to support new product ideas.
  • Understand, articulate and improve upon the stylist and customer user experience.

  • A proven ability to match social media platforms to audiences and opportunities. An ability to translate “in person” business drivers to their digital counterparts.

Assistant Systems and Ecommerce Manager

Ruby Ribbon is seeking an Assistant Systems and Ecommerce Manager to join its growing technology department. In this role you will work across a spectrum of systems as the key partner helping internal and external users troubleshoot issues and opportunities. You will also oversee our ecommerce platform as it relates to introducing and sunsetting products and SKUs, and managing pricing and discounts.

Responsibilities

  • E-Commerce system management
  • Production support: the liaison between Customer service, Marketing and Sales operations and Technology

Requirements

  • Two to five years experience in a production support, web producer, site operations, or project manager role

Senior Accountant

Ruby Ribbon is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to support the Finance Director and VP of Finance. We are seeking a team player who can work well in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

The Senior Accountant will have an active role in analyzing accounts, booking the close and supervising the staff accountant.

  • P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow reporting – create and update financial statements every month. Review and analyze statements for any anomalies. Maintain detailed backup details. Follow-up with appropriate parties to insure posting into the correct chart of accounts.
  • Accounts Payable - Insure all invoices are approved, accurately coded, entered, and paid in a timely matter. Follow-up with all department heads to insure all invoices have been approved on schedule. Check all new vendors to ensure W-9 on file before processing any checks. Keep A/P files organized and up to date. Follow up with vendors and employees with any discrepancies on invoices and/or expense reports.
  • Monthly Close & Maintain Schedules - Fixed Assets, Prepaid, Depreciation, Inventory valuation and others. Ensure all monthly journal entries are recorded properly.
  • Credit Card Merchant Statements –Reconcile with sales orders, record discount charges, dispute any chargebacks and discrepancies.
  • Sales & Commissions – Using commission software, generate and reconcile monthly stylist commissions. Book monthly accruals into QuickBooks, manage ACH deposits of commissions. Ensure commissions are always issued on time and accurately.
  • Banking – Monitor accounts for sufficient funds. Make transfers as needed. Initiate wire transfers and follow up on approvals. Initiate ACH and follow up on missing account information. Reconcile monthly statements.
  • Taxes - Using Avalara Tax Software, register and file sales tax in all states with Nexus. Assist with Troubleshooting sales tax calculation issues on sales order system. Assist CPA with compilation of information for Federal & State Income Taxes.
  • Insurance – Manage Policy Renewals and Certificate request.
  • Payroll – Ensure an accurate and timely submission of payroll information. Maintain and update payroll records for approved changes. Maintain vacation, sick, and bonus accrual schedules.
  • Business License / Government Compliance – Manage applications for all business licenses and government compliance requirements.
  • 1099s - Issue annual 1099s. Maintain contractor agreement binders. Ensure receipt of W-9 before issuing any payments.
  • Inventory – Maintain inventory item list and update cost. Reconcile inventory with reports from order entry system and 3PL reports monthly.
  • Assist in preparing board presentations, financial presentations, analysis, and other projects requested by senior management.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures with emphasis on internal controls.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Business/Finance with deep knowledge of GAAP.
  • Proven work experience in the Accounting function; start-up and retail (inventory) experience a huge plus.
  • Experience with supporting or leading a financial audit process strongly preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Office. Advanced proficiency in Excel required.
  • Ability to pick up responsibilities quickly and work with limited direction.

Inventory Coordinator

Job Description

Your primary job responsibility is to manage and communicate daily inventory needs to the Product, Customer Service & Finance teams.

Responsibilities

  • Run daily reports related to inventory, sales, shipments, short orders and receipts.
  • Manage Daily Product alerts, coordinating with customer service & the product team. Communicate when necessary on FB boards.
  • Track all POs, including inputting new POs to our internal PO tracker, and updating weekly changes.
  • Use internal software systems to update inventory availability.
  • Manage inventory levels of business supplies in the distribution center. Place reorders when necessary.
  • Manage the daily short orders report with the distribution center, communicating actions required on orders.
  • Manage back orders process, including tracking back orders in Excel and working with Customer Service to communicate information to Stylists.
  • Create SKUs and manage POs in Quickbooks.

Requirements

  • You are comfortable in Excel (including advance functions like pivot tables) and using various reporting systems (Zen Desk, Quickbooks, internal back office system).
  • You have an undergraduate degree and have spent 2-3 years working in inventory management.
  • Having some accounting understanding is helpful, but not critical.
  • You are extraordinarily focused on the details - and while you work quickly, you do not work carelessly.
  • You love to get in the weeds with data, but can also take a step back and think critically about what the data is telling us.
  • You have great written and verbal communication skills.

  • Deliver superior service and provide support needed to ensure 100% stylist and customer satisfaction via email, phone and office visits.
  • Be an expert on our procedures, order entry system, promotions and products so that you can resolve any stylist or customer issue.
  • Develop a strong rapport with the stylist base.
  • Assist in troubleshooting technical issues for stylists and customers.
  • Track and ensure orders are delivered within Ruby Ribbon's delivery standards.
  • Thoroughly document issues and resolutions in Zendesk ticketing system.
  • Participate in initiatives to continually improve our support offering.
